Initially, “Kinky Boots” was a British movie released in 2005. Geoff Deane and Tim Firth shot the film which was based on a true story. It was an episode taken from real life of Steve Pateman who did his best to save a nearly bankrupt family shoe-factory. In 2006, Daryl Roth (the producer of the musical) watched the movie and got inspired with the idea. She felt that the story was strong enough to turn it into a great performance.
